Not quite what I expected

I do not understand the reason for the man being naked at the beginning of the movie. It made no sense to me. It was a good movie for the first 15 minutes or so....I expected it to be more like the book by George Stewart called Earth Abides....where man is gone, leaving one only....looking and searching for what happened, looking and searching for other survivors and learning to cope without electricity, watching the changes to the world as things broke down, and all manmade things are gone; man growing backwards in time...,,It was nothing like that,....I did not like this movie at all and would not recommend it...
