Dull and over detailed

Guess I'm just not the military type, but I found the book boring, too much protracted discussion of trivia that slowed the storyline significantly. In fact, the book ends up with a double climax, the second one being tedious to read.

Instead of reading the book, watch the movie, The movie puts the story in high gear, allows the suspense to fully impact the viewer (you're never quite sure how it's going to go), and moves along to a decent single climax. It's worth tracking down the DVD!

This one rates as one of my favorites of all time! Baldwin and Connery do an absolutely fantastic job in this flick based on Tom Clancy's novel. I love the storyline. The action is great and the "mental" games that are played out by the characters are superb. A great example of "cat and mouse" in the political-thriller genre. Arguably the best of the Jack Ryan films.
