A Classic

This gorgeous film (sorry, there's no other adjective that fully describes it), is a real masterpiece. The cinematography, music and story are unparalleled, and woven together so beautifully. The acting by Meryl Streep is, as usual, amazing.

The story is based on the life of Isak Dinesen (aka Karyn Blixen), who moved to Kenya from Denmark in the early 1900s during a time when whites had recently begun to settle there. The movie is a true, if slightly romanticized, depiction of her time in Africa. Beautiful, challenging and sometimes sad, it's really a masterpiece of film making. -They don't make them like this anymore.

Out of AFRICA

This is quite simply one of the best movies ever made. It is wistful and loyal and endearing and controversial and a unbelievable love story all woven together in effortless art.
Meryl Streep plays a wealthy African white lady, tainted by the adultery of her husband. Her chosen response is to devote herself to helping the local kikuyu tribal children to learn English. Her uncomplicated love for them is endearing without being overdramatic.
The surprise is the whimsical love story between her character and the wandering pilot played by Robert Redford, also an engaging enigma of a character.
The set of the movie is exquisite with African landscape.

Breathe in deeply the beauty of this film. I highly recommend it.
