Show Synopsis

While having lunch at the Plaza Hotel in New York, advertising executive Roger O. Thornhill (Cary Grant) has the bad luck to call for a messenger just as a page goes out for a "George Kaplan." From that moment, Thornhill finds that he has stepped into a nightmare -- he is quietly abducted by a pair of armed men out of the hotel's famous Oak Room and transported to a Long Island estate; there, he is interrogated by a mysterious man (James Mason) who, believing that Roger is George Kaplan, demands to know what he knows about ...

A Hollywood Failure

Last week I watched Hitchcock's "North by Northwesr". For an espionage/psychological thriller it wasn't very fast paced. Toward the end when he was upstairs and wanted to get her attention, he threw a book of matches fifteen feet out and fifteen feet down to land at her feet? Not in the least a believable event, one that the whole story relied on being taken as, oh yeah sure, to be sucessfull. As a dart player, I know the shot's impossible. And in the beginning just when his troubles were beginning, he never asks the police to verify what happened at the hotel bar? That he'd mysteriously disappeared while talking shop with friends? Too far for this dog to fetch (far fetched).
Redeemong values are the cinematography innovations employed To achive perspectives and mood setting. The DVD bonus features contain interviews and behind the scenes documentation of its making.

My All Time Favorite Movie

This movie has absolutely EVERYTHING! It is loaded with on-the-edge-of-you-seat suspense, comedy, romance and a little mystery to boot. I become so drawn into the story line that I can watch this several times in a month and be just as entertained as if I'd never seen it before.

This is a must have!

NORTH BY NORTHWEST

North By Northwest has got to be one of Hitchcock's best achievements with the help of Cary Grant, Eva Marie Saint, and James Mason, etal. Great cast, great story, not a boring moment and a fantastic ending - truly a classic.
